Bohemian Bridal Shower

Standard

For my Bridal Shower my sweet long time girl-friend Candi planned a beautiful bohemian themed dinner party.  She really did amaze me, at no surprise=).  Her attention to detail really made it special.  She served greek food and had delicious hors d’oureves.  She found a collection of different vases and nic nac’s at the local farmers market for an incredible price.  The babies breath, succulents, and foxtail (the foxtail were right out of her backyard) really completed this boho look.  It truly was beautiful.  Thank you Candi for putting it all together and thank you to all the ladies that came and showed their support.  Thank you to my mom and sister for being there in spirit, only if we weren’t miles away…

Beach Boho Engagement Photo Shoot (Photos by Justin Snyder)

Standard

For our beach boho engagement photo shoot we headed to beautiful San Palos Verdes coastline and later to the Belmont Shore Pier Here is where our talented friend Justin Snyder was able to capture some creative and sweet pictures of Matt and I.  I we went to some vintage shops off of Retro Row on Cherry.  My dress was about 20$ and the coat was $25 (Leather!!).  and Matt’s outfit total was about $80.  The priciest piece was his hat at $40.  It was a lot of fun.  Thanks so much Justin, you did such a beautiful job!

Bridesmaides Dresses

Standard

So we are going back to the original plan due to ordering custom made dresses being so difficult.  We tried =/…   Here are the requirements for the dress.  It must be a maxi either burnt orange or a tealish turquoise. You can refer back to My Colors for an example of what I’m referring to.  I don’t mind what fabric you choose as long as the dress is elegant and you look beautiful in it. Make sure to send me a picture of your dress before you purchase.

Groomsmen

Standard

For the groomsmen the suits are going to be a mix of different styles but all black slacks and a white dress button up shirts.  Here are some ideas boys.  Make sure to add a little bit of your style to the look.  Whatever you do don’t out dress the groom, his suit will be like the one in the middle.

Here is an idea of the look we are going for. They don’t have to necessarily be exactly the same as the picture, this is just an example.  Be creative, bow tie, tie, scarf, tie, suspenders, no suspenders, hat, vest, whatever floats your boat.

If the little rascals can do it so can you =)

Our Forest Wedding Gone Beach Wedding

Standard

Due to sudden changes Matt and I had to relocate our wedding.  I searched and searched to find the perfect place in the forest and nothing seemed to work.  Thank goodness for Matt’s dad Joe we finally found a spot right here in our home town… Long Beach!  Overall it seems that it is going to work better for everyone.  More of our family and friends will be able to attend!!  We will be having the ceremony right on the sand next to the pier during sunset.  After the ceremony we will be having our reception at the end of the Belmont Pier.  It is great location over looking the water with the beautiful Long Beach city lights and Queen Mary in the distance.

It was difficult for me to adapt my ideas to a bohemian beach theme at first but I got some inspiration and am excited to make it happen!!  Another great thing is that we will have a whole week to decorate!!!

I really am hoping to have a Wedding Arch Chuppah Canopy.  I searched online for several hours to try to find the best deal either by renting one or buying one.  I discovered that not many places carry what I was looking for and when I found something  close it was more than I wanted to pay (over $120 for ok looking ones and about $250 for nicer ones), so I checked out about creating my own Chuppah.  They are really not difficult to make and I can use a number of different materials. I originally wanted to make one of bamboo but I’m not sure if I prefer to use birch branches instead.  I found an amazing deal on bamboo poles and they have a lot of offerings of free shipping which can be the most expensive part.

Here are some images of what I’m hoping to build =)

Honeymoon

Standard

So we have decided that we would rather put more money into our wedding right now and save our Costa Rica excursion as a 5 year honeymoon goal =)!  Matt has never been to San Francisco so we are going to take a road trip up and take Hwy 1 down along the coast stopping at sight-seeing places down.  I was thinking Hearst Castle, Santa Barbra, San Francisco, Redwood Forest, Napa Valley for a hot air balloon ride and wine tasting, Morro Bay, whale watching in Monterey, The Ghetty Center, and whatever else we may find on the way!

If you guys have any other areas you think are a must go please let me know through the comments below!

Flowers

Standard

So I decided to go with Sunflowers and Snap Dragons.  I searched several different sites for wholesale flowers and DIY seemed to have the best deals on Boxed Wedding Flowers.  My favorite flower is a Sunflower, big, bright, beautiful, and wild.  When I saw the Snap Dragons with the Sunflower I knew this was it.  Every time I walk down Ocean Blvd. by our home I always am in awe over the beautiful Snap Dragons that line the side of the street.  This combo is perfect for our fall Bohemian Wedding.

Love This!

So I was think that this can be on the sign in table or gift table and we can promote raising money for our honeymoon!!!  We have a bunch of birdcages at my work that are vintage looking and really cute!!!  Maybe we can hange them from the trees or something.
